"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matt 7:13-14).

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” (Matt 7:21-23).

The Bible tells us that life is like a vapor (James 4:14) and that Jesus Christ is the only way to get to heaven (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). Jesus also tells us that we are either with Him or against Him, (Luke 11:23).

The Bible teaches that our righteousness is like 'filthy rags' (Isaiah 64:6). The only way to be righteous before a Holy God is to be clothed with Jesus' righteousness which will be imputed to those who repent and trust Jesus Christ for salvation.

If Jesus Christ is not your Lord and Savior, God will judge you based on your goodness.

Now how good of a person are you?

Have you ever stolen anything (a paper clip)? Have you ever told a white lie? Have you ever looked at a woman lustfully? What does that make you in God's eyes? (Hint: a thief, liar, and an adulterer!)

If you sin just 5 sins a day (having a bad thought is a sin) and die at the age of 60, you would have committed: 5 (sins) X 60 (years) = 109,500 sins. If God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden after committing 1 sin, why would He allow you to spend eternity with Him when you have committed 109,500 sins; (a very conservative number)? These are just three of the 'Ten commandments' and if you break just one of them you'll be found guilty (James 2:10). You do not come into this world good and then get a sinful nature upon your first willful sin that you commit. Rather, you come into the world with a sinful nature. Do you see your need for Christ? Do you see your need for His forgiveness?

You can only come to Jesus Christ based on ‘God’s terms’.

You must acknowledge your 'Spiritual Bankrupt Condition'

&

You must 'Count The Cost'

A. You must come to Jesus Christ poor in spirit’; that is realizing you have absolutely nothing whatsoever to offer God. You must come to Jesus Christ broken over your sin. You must mourn over your sin for you have SINNED against God and have offended Him. You must be crushed into meekness as you ask for His forgiveness. As a result, you are driven to hunger and thirst after righteousness.

If you did not come to Jesus Christ with a broken and a contrite heart, 'You did not come to Jesus Christ'.

There are many who claim to be Christians but are lost. The Biblical evidence of true conversion is a life of obedience and submission to the 'Lordship of Christ' (James 1:22).

“Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it” (Matt 7:14).

You have to look outside of yourself for help,O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?" (Rom 7:24).

"I thank God -- through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Rom 7:25).

B. You must also Count The Cost!

Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.  For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.  For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?  For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works"  (Matt 16:24-27).

"And Elijah came to all the people, and said, How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him." (1 Kings 18:21).

Praying a little prayer, walking down the aisle, or signing a commitment card won’t save you. A decision for Christ is not necessarily a soul for Christ. Do you truly acknowledge your bankrupt spiritual condition and mourn over it? Do you “hunger and thirst for righteousness”? Are you willing to deny yourself, pick up your cross daily and follow Jesus? Are you willing to lose everything including your life for Jesus’ sake?

If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to all of the above questions, pray and mean the following:

Dear God, I come to You with a contrite and broken heart realizing what a wretched sinner I am. I mourn over my bankrupt spiritual condition. I have sinned against You. I am sorry. I repent of my sins and turn to You for forgiveness. I give everything up to follow you. I believe You died for all my sins and rose from the dead. I confess and receive Jesus Christ by faith as my Lord and Savior. Teach me Your ways and give me Your power to serve and live for You for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name Amen.

"Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." (Joshua 24:14-15).
